the countdown continues...

6 more weeks! in some ways it feels so close, but in others so far away. even though we have been relieved of some of the concerns there were regarding my pregnancy, i am now starting to realize that this baby has got to come out sometime, which is the part that really terrifies me. though it seems that your body prepares you for that by making you so uncomfortable that you actual want the labor to begin so that the pregnancy will be over! i am starting to feel some of those effects, like the limited space in my stomach and bladder, and waking up every night at 2 or 3 am (i guess this is getting me ready to wake up in the night when the baby is here).

so since christmas is going to be here in no time i'm hoping these last weeks will fly by. we already went to a christmas party last weekend, held by a coworker of mine and this weekend we are heading up to Whistler for my staff work party. adrian is looking forward to finally hitting the slopes up there (he has not been skiing there for a long time). unfortunately i'm not in any condition to ski, but am looking forward to an afternoon at the spa (that should be good too).

we are starting to get things prepared for the arrival of our new little one. the nursery is almost all set up, just the walls need to be painted. when my parents came to visit in september they brought a rocking chair. adrian assembled the crib in october while i was in manitoba, and my dad built us a change table. last week we went out and bought an outfit for the baby seeing as we had no clothes for it yet. grandma Block has made several baby afghans and since adrian and i are the first grandchildren to have kids, we got to pick which one we wanted, so we have a beautiful white afghan for the nursery. we also have several friends who have given us things like a baby bath, and a snugli for carrying the little one around. so we are thankful that we have quite a few things ready and are starting to feel more prepared. we are lucky to have so many people in our lives that we know will help us out through this life changing experience and we feel very blessed already.

so another thing i've been doing to prepare for the baby is trying to figure our how i am going to get some great pictures of our little one. as many of you know photography is a hobby of mine, or i'd like to do more of it now while i'm not working. but my dilema is that i like taking pictures in natural light. well seeing as how the baby will be here in january, that makes it a little bit difficult to take pictures outside. so i am trying to set up some lighting inside, but am far from mastering a good lighting set up. anyways, i took some pregnancy pics to practice so hear are a few that sorta turned out...
